Grace On The Go to Visit Madonna Shrine
Black Madonna Shrine and Route 66
Museum: Thursday, March 14
Grace on the Go will take a walking tour of the Black Madonna Shrine near Eureka at 10 am on March 14. The grottos of St. Francis, St.Joseph, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Gethsemane, Our Lady of Sorrows, Assumption, and Nativity were constructed by hand of Missouri tiff rock by Brother Bronislaus, who emigrated here from Poland in the 1920s. The walking tour begins on The Bridge, a viewing platform, and progresses through the grottos. Photos are available online.
From the shrine, we will go to Joe Boccardi's in Old Town Eureka for a delicious lunch. Then we end at the Route 66 Museum for a self-guided tour. This museum is the visitors center for Route 66 State Park and contains small
displays of Route 66 interest.
Sign up beginning next Sunday in the parish hall.
