Shepherd's Center
In 1998, a group of volunteers and congregations from St. Louis came together to form Shepherd's Center. Their vision was to empower older adults and help them stay independent and engaged in social, intellectual, and physical activities.
Today, Shepherd's Center continues to serve the community and provide support for older adults. With over 200 volunteers, the center provides various programs and services that cater to the aging population's needs. Over 1300 older adults were served over the past year. The center's focus on serving older adults has helped them thrive and enriched the community by allowing people of all ages to benefit from the wisdom, stories, and legacy of those in their later years. The Shepherd's Center remains committed to continuing its mission of providing support and care to our aging population and promoting intergenerational connections in our community.
The center offers various services to help older adults remain independent and connected to their community. These services include transportation to medical appointments, grocery delivery, leaf raking, and minor home repairs. In addition, they offer telephone companionship to combat social isolation and a variety of programs that promote physical and mental wellness. These services and programs are designed to support older adults' desire to live in their homes for as long as possible while providing the help and resources they need to thrive.
Grace Church is proud to be one of sixteen sponsoring congregations supporting the Shepherd's Center in our area. We provide financial support and volunteers who serve on the board and help with various programs. Many parishioners benefit from the center's wide range of programs and services. Grace Church is grateful for the opportunity to support such a valuable resource in our community.
